Initial Consultation for Therapy

Whether you might be interested in a once a week psychotherapy or a five times a week psychoanalysis, and whether it be for yourself, a relationship or your family, or perhaps you are unsure and just have questions, the place to begin is contacting me by phone.  I will call you back within a reasonable period, and if you and I decide to take the next step, a consultation in my office will be set up.  It is during this period, usually lasting one but up to three 50-minute appointments, you and I will work together to help figure out the best course of action for you.

During the consultation, I will ask what brings you into see me, and I will listen carefully and help clarify your concerns. This period of time will also give me an opportunity to learn more about you, and will help me to get a clearer picture of what I believe would be most helpful for you.  I will also orient you the process of therapy along with addressing any questions or concerns you might have.  At the end of the consultation period, I will offer you a brief summary and make recommendations for you to consider.  Should you and I decide to work together, we will establish a mutually agreed upon fee and session times, and I’ll ask you to sign an Informed Consent/HIPPA form prior to you and I initiating treatment.
